Sell Antique & Collectible Firearms

Collectible firearms are not priced by model name. Variant, production era, factory configuration, originality and documentation can move value substantially in either direction, which is why each piece is evaluated individually. We Buy Your Guns is the firearm acquisition service of NorTex Guns, operated by NTX FIREARMS LLC, a federally licensed firearms business based in North Texas.

Why Collectible Firearms Require Individual Evaluation

Published price guides and online listings describe a model in general terms. A collectible firearm is a specific object: a particular variant, from a particular production period, in a particular state of originality.

Two examples of the same model can differ significantly once you account for the features that collectors actually pay attention to. That is why we evaluate the firearm in front of us rather than the name stamped on it.

Value Factors We Examine

  • Manufacturer
  • Model
  • Variant and sub-variant
  • Production era
  • Factory configuration as originally shipped
  • Finish and its originality
  • Originality of components
  • Matching components where relevant to the model
  • Rarity within the model line
  • Historical significance where applicable
  • Mechanical and cosmetic condition
  • Provenance and documented history
  • Original box
  • Factory letters and paperwork
  • Manuals
  • Accessories, tools and cases
  • Current collector demand

Our overall approach is documented on how we value firearms, with category-specific detail in the firearm value guide.

Do Not Restore Before Evaluation

This is the single most common avoidable mistake. Refinishing, re-bluing, sanding a stock, polishing away patina or swapping in replacement parts can reduce what a collectible firearm is worth, sometimes materially.

Restoration is not always negative, and the effect depends on the firearm — but it cannot be undone. Have the piece evaluated in its current condition before any work is considered.

Military and Historical Firearms

Military-issue and historically associated firearms are assessed on the same principles: what the firearm is, how original it remains, what documentation supports it and what collectors currently seek. Where provenance exists, it is worth including with your submission.

Sporting and High-Grade Firearms

Higher-grade sporting shotguns, engraved firearms and collectible hunting rifles are evaluated with attention to grade, engraving, wood, chambering, barrel configuration and originality, along with any case, tools or documentation that accompany them.

Selling More Than One Collectible Piece

Collectible firearms frequently arrive as part of a larger group — a lifetime collection, an inheritance or an estate.
