Firearm Values: What Is Your Gun Worth?

There is no single price for a firearm model. Value comes from the specific example in front of you: its variant, condition, originality, completeness and what that exact configuration is currently doing in the market. These guides explain what actually moves the number in each category.

What determines a firearm's value

Every evaluation we make comes back to the same set of factors, weighted differently depending on the firearm in front of us.

  • Condition — mechanical function, finish retention, bore, wood and small parts, each assessed separately rather than as one grade.
  • Manufacturer and model — the baseline for what the firearm is and who is currently buying it.
  • Variation — factory variants, early production features and transitional configurations often set the ceiling.
  • Originality — original finish, grips or stock, sights and factory-correct parts; on military firearms, matching components.
  • Age and production period — context for which features and markings should be present.
  • Rarity — how often that exact configuration actually comes to market.
  • Documentation — original box, manual, factory letter, receipts and period paperwork.
  • Collector demand — what collectors are actively pursuing right now.
  • Market conditions — recent comparable sales rather than published guide numbers alone.

Asking price is not the same as a purchase offer

An auction listing shows what a seller is asking, not what the firearm sold for, and a retail price includes the cost and risk of finding a retail buyer. A purchase offer from a licensed buyer is what a business will pay today to own the firearm outright, with no listing, no fees and no waiting.

Why values vary between two of the same model

Two examples of one model can evaluate very differently. One may retain its original finish, matching parts, box and paperwork; the other may be refinished with replacement grips and a drilled receiver. Both are the same model on paper. They are not the same firearm to a buyer.

How We Buy Your Guns evaluates firearms

We identify the firearm precisely, assess condition and originality separately, account for accessories and documentation, and compare it against current market activity before making a direct purchase offer. Read the full valuation method, or send us the firearm details and we will evaluate the actual example you own.

Category guides cover how a type of firearm is evaluated. To narrow down to a manufacturer, model and variant, browse firearm values by make and model.

Guides are a starting point, not an offer

A published value guide cannot see your firearm. Two examples of the same model can evaluate very differently based on finish originality, bore condition, matching components and documentation. The only way to know what we will pay is to have us look at it.

Read how we value firearms for the full evaluation method, or browse recently purchased firearms to see how these factors played out on real acquisitions.
