Shipping a Firearm to We Buy Your Guns

Shipping is the step where sellers most often go wrong. The rule is simple: nothing ships until you have accepted an offer and received written instructions from us.

Do not ship before receiving instructions

A firearm that arrives without prior arrangement creates problems for everyone: it cannot be matched to a transaction, and it complicates the record-keeping that a licensed firearms business is required to maintain. Wait for our written instructions.

An accepted offer comes first

Shipping instructions are issued only after you have accepted an offer. Those instructions are specific to your transaction and will tell you exactly what to do, what to include and where to send it.

Prepaid shipping label

A prepaid shipping label is provided where applicable. Whether one applies to your transaction will be stated in your instructions.

Packaging

  • Use a sturdy outer box with no firearm-related branding or markings
  • Immobilize the firearm so it cannot shift during transit
  • Protect the muzzle, sights and any mounted optic
  • Pack any original box, manual or paperwork so it is not crushed
  • Do not include ammunition
  • Seal all seams securely

Identification and documentation

Include exactly what your instructions ask for — no more and no less. If you are unsure whether something should be in the box, ask before you seal it.

Carrier requirements

Carriers maintain their own requirements for firearm shipments, and those requirements change. Your written instructions will identify the carrier and the specific requirements that apply to your shipment. Do not assume the rules from a previous shipment still apply.

Tracking

Keep your tracking number and your receipt. Send us the tracking number when the package is on its way so we can watch for it.

Insurance

Insurance coverage is addressed in the instructions issued for your transaction, based on the firearm and the carrier involved. We will tell you what applies rather than leaving you to guess.

Receiving and inspection

On arrival, the firearm is logged in as required and inspected against the description you provided — mechanical function, bore, finish, originality and completeness.

What happens next

If the firearm matches its description, payment is completed on the agreed terms. If something material differs, we contact you and discuss it before taking any further step.
