Firearm Values

What Actually Determines the Value of a Firearm

Condition is only one part of the equation. Originality, documentation, rarity and current collector demand often matter more.

Start with identification

Manufacturer, model, variant and caliber or gauge set the baseline. Two firearms that look nearly identical can evaluate very differently if one is a scarce factory variant and the other is a standard production model.

Condition and originality are not the same thing

Condition describes wear: finish retention, bore, mechanical function, stock and grip condition. Originality describes whether the firearm remains as the factory built it.

A refinished firearm can look better and evaluate lower than an honest, original example with visible handling wear. Replaced grips, reblued surfaces, drilled and tapped receivers and aftermarket parts all affect collector value.

Documentation and accessories

Complete packages consistently evaluate higher than bare firearms.

  • Original box and end labels
  • Manuals and hang tags
  • Factory letters
  • Original tools, magazines and grips
  • Purchase receipts and provenance

Rarity and current demand

Scarcity only creates value when collectors are actively pursuing the firearm. We track real marketplace conditions and comparable sales through our participation in the firearm market as NorTex Guns, and that data informs the offers we make.

Evaluation versus appraisal

A purchase offer is not necessarily the same thing as a formal insurance, probate or certified appraisal. We provide a firearm evaluation and a direct purchase offer.
