About the Glock 19

The Glock 19 is a compact, striker-fired 9mm pistol built as a slightly shorter and more concealable version of the Glock 17, using a shortened slide and grip while retaining the same operating system. It has become one of the most widely carried pistols among civilians, law enforcement, and military users.

As with the Glock 17, the 19 has progressed through multiple generations with changes to grip texture, accessory rails, and optic readiness, along with a compact MOS variant offered in later generations.

Because the Glock 19 sees heavy use as both a duty and concealed-carry pistol, condition assessment often centers on holster wear, round count indicators, and whether factory parts remain in place.

Variations

Glock 19 variations that matter

Configuration is often the difference between two otherwise identical examples.

Gen1-Gen3

Earlier generations distinguished by frame texture and rail configuration, with Gen3 introducing an accessory rail.

Gen4

Added interchangeable backstraps and a dual recoil spring assembly.

Gen5

Removed finger grooves and added a flared magwell cut and ambidextrous slide stop on many models.

Glock 19X and 19 MOS

The 19X pairs a Glock 19 slide with a full-size Glock 17 frame in a coyote tan finish, while MOS versions offer optic-ready slides.

Valuation

What affects Glock 19 value

We do not publish a price chart. These are the characteristics that determine what a specific example evaluates at.

  1. Factor 1

    Generation

Gen1 through Gen5 pistols differ in frame texture and features, and identifying the generation is a first step in evaluation.

  2. Factor 2

    Factory versus aftermarket parts

Original barrel, sights, and trigger components as opposed to aftermarket replacements affect how original a pistol is relative to factory configuration.

  3. Factor 3

    MOS or 19X configuration

Optic-ready slides and 19X frame/slide combinations are assessed as distinct configurations from standard Gen3/Gen4 pistols.

  4. Factor 4

    Concealed carry wear

Because the 19 is commonly carried daily, holster wear and finish condition are practical inspection points.

  5. Factor 5

    Law enforcement provenance

Trade-in pistols with agency markings are considered differently than pistols never issued to an agency.

  6. Factor 6

    Included magazines and case

Factory magazines, box, and manual contribute to overall completeness.
